About

  • PKOLS (Mount Douglas) Beach is located within the 188-hectare park

  • The staircase down to the beach was closed in summer 2022 due to the lower section falling into the ocean

  • A new staircase opened in early 2023 using Green Shores principles which aim to reduce the impact of development on shoreline ecosystems

  • Mount Douglas Park was renamed to PKOLS, its original Indigenous name and is an important location in the history of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation

  • The beach is a favourite of local bird watchers and if you’re lucky you might spot an eagle
